How this check works
An ads.txt file is a plain text file published at the root of a domain. The format is defined by the IAB Tech Lab Authorized Digital Sellers specification: one seller record per line, with comma-separated fields for the advertising system domain, the publisher account ID, the relationship (DIRECT or RESELLER), and an optional certification authority ID. This tool requests the /ads.txt path over HTTPS, reads the response as text, and counts the lines whose first field is google.com. When you enter a publisher ID, it also looks for that exact string anywhere in the file.
Example
A site selling inventory through AdSense commonly publishes a line in the form google.com, pub-0000000000000000, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0. For such a domain this tool reports the file as Found, counts one Google seller record, and — if you entered the matching publisher ID — marks that ID as found.
How to read the result
Found means the file responded at the root path at the moment of the request and contains the records described above. Not found means nothing answered at that path right then; a file added minutes ago, or served only to certain regions, can return the same result. A record being present indicates that the text is published. It does not indicate that ad serving is active, that an account exists, or that any application has been reviewed.
Limits: this check reads one public text file. It does not verify account ownership, ad delivery, earnings, or eligibility, and it cannot tell you whether a record is correct for your setup.
