Why I Built AdPrepare: the Rejection Email That Tells You Nothing

Every AdSense rejection email looks the same: one vague phrase — "low value content", "policy violations" — and a link to policy pages that don't mention your site at all. No line numbers. No specifics. Just try again. I'm a solo developer, and AdPrepare exists because that email made me genuinely curious about a strange gap: the guidelines a site gets reviewed against are public, but almost nobody checks their site against them before applying.

01The gap that didn't make sense

Google publishes its program policies, webmaster quality guidance, and even a 180-page search quality rater guide. Everything a review could reasonably care about is, in some form, publicly documented.

But the documentation is scattered across dozens of pages, written for policy readers rather than bloggers, and none of it tells you which parts apply to your site. So people do the natural thing: they skip it, apply, get a vague rejection, and start guessing. Forum threads are full of the same loop — reapply, rejected, reapply, rejected — with nobody able to say what the actual blocker was.

02The lesson that surprised me most

Digging through rejected sites, I expected the story to be mostly about content quality. It often isn't. A surprising share of rejections trace to something more basic: the review never really saw the site. Login walls, placeholder pages, noindex tags, robots.txt blocks, half-deployed themes — from the reviewer's side, there was nothing to evaluate.

That became a core rule in how AdPrepare checks sites: reviewability comes before quality. Before asking "is this content good enough?", ask "can a reviewer and a crawler actually see it?" — because a review can only judge what it can see.

03What AdPrepare is — and deliberately isn't

AdPrepare crawls your site and checks it against Google's publicly available guidelines: essential pages, crawlability, structure, content signals, E-E-A-T factors. It shows which public rule each signal relates to, what it observed, and what direction to review — in about 30 seconds.

Just as important is what it doesn't do. It doesn't guarantee approval — nobody honestly can, and the services that promise "guaranteed approval" are the reason this space feels scammy. It doesn't rewrite your content for you. And it doesn't claim to know Google's internal criteria — it works strictly from what Google has published. The score it gives is a readiness estimate, not an approval probability, because Google doesn't publish approval odds and I won't pretend otherwise.

04The principles it runs on

Three rules I wrote down early and kept:

  • Google's side, not against it: the tool helps sites comply with public policies. Google wants less spam; bloggers want approval. Those goals point the same way.
  • Show, don't decide: AdPrepare surfaces signals and the public rules they relate to. What to change — and whether to apply — stays your call.
  • Honest limits: reference estimates only, no guarantees, and clear scope (Google's public policies and general US-level guidance — not legal advice).
